Plein Air Application



Eligibility

Open to all artists 18 years and older.

Entry Form and Fee

The 2012 Telluride Plein Air application process will be open from August 1 through November 30, 2011. Artists will be notified of acceptance the first week in January. Please note that the 2012 Telluride Plein Air will run from June 29th to July 5th, 2012.

Please submit a completed online entry form via www.onlinejuriedshows.com. Requested data will include the submission of three painting images (Plein Air works please) and a bio/resume of past art shows and awards. After entering your personal data and uploading your photos and resume, you will be directed to the check out center. You will be asked to proceed with payment with a credit card or via PayPal to finalize your application submission.

Image Format

Each artist must submit 3 images of their Plein Air artwork in JPEG or sRGB, color space preferred format with a resolution of 72 DPI (max 1920 pixels on the longest side) as part of the online application process. If you have a Macintosh, please use only letters and numbers in your filename and only 1 (.) period. Entry Process

The Telluride Plein Air Celebration is a juried exhibition consisting of a panel of 4-5 jurors. The panel will review all submitted applications and select approximately 25 artists for a total of 30 artists to participate in the 2012 event. (The top five revenue-generating artists from 2011 are invited back to join the 2012 event.) Notification of selected artists will be sent to each applicant via email no later than January 30, 2012. Artist agreement forms will be physically mailed to those who have been accepted following the announcement.

Exhibition Details

All artwork must be completed in the Telluride area between June 29th and July 5th of 2012. This event allows artists to arrive on the 27th to adjust to the altitude and check out the area, however artists are NOT allowed to arrive earlier and artists will NOT be provided host lodging until the evening of June 29th. Even if you have a personal relationship with your host, please do not ask them to extend their hospitality beyond the event dates.

Canvases will be stamped with an approved insignia beginning on Thursday, June 28th at 10am within the Sheridan Opera House office. Artists are permitted to bring in WET canvases that have been painted the night before or early the morning of the 28th. Only artwork with this stamp will be permitted in the Exhibition & Sale. In addition, all works must be suitably framed with proper backing. Wire hangers or a suitable hanging device must be attached and ready to hang.

Sales

This event is a fundraiser for the Sheridan Arts Foundation and the Historic Sheridan Opera House, a 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit. The Sheridan Arts Foundation will retain 40% of all sales revenue generated throughout the sale. Commissioned pieces will also be permitted at the above mentioned rate. Payments for all work sold will be mailed within two weeks after the exhibit closes.

Lodging/Transportation


Host lodging is available to each participating artist at no charge for 7 nights beginning June 29, 2012 (we ask artists to NOT request additional lodging nights with their host). If an artist plans on bringing his/her family, he/she will be responsible for providing their own accommodations. Artists are also responsible for providing their own transportation to and from Telluride, CO.

Please Note: The Sheridan Arts Foundation will also host the 2012 Aspen Plein Air show from July 6th - 12th. Artists for the Aspen show have been accepted via invitation only.
